Life: Art? Fashion?

The other day I went out for dinner with a friend and while eating my vegan quesadilla I noticed this poster of art (first image). When I finished reading the last word on this poster, it actually make me think very hard on fashion and art... I looked up at the seven arts and apparently fashion is not one of them... perhaps it's not even a reliable source but these are the "seven arts" : visual art, poetry, sculpturing, dance, music, architecture and theatre... I wonder if they forgot about food and fashion... or maybe I'm just being silly...

I once heard one of my good old friends asking me if fashion was art... In my opinion there is no real definition on whether something is art or not... Although there are thousands of people that reject the idea that art has become something big in business...and that it's somehow exclusive (museums and galleries)... but the shocking truth is that nowadays everything runs with money whether it pleases us or not...Now don't get me wrong... yes art is everywhere and it could be on the wall of a dark alley in some polluted industrial factory but nevertheless art or what society has ditacted us upon art is that it belongs in the walls of those rich people...that know all about history...

It's like fashion... I love fashion because of the idea of customizing and letting your clothes speak about yourself but I won't shut myself from the idea that fashion is business. I do consider fashion an art because not everyone was born to be a fashion designer... and because fashion is about innovation and to me it's like a walking painting.... and the same way goes as art... fashion can be between the pages of Vogue Paris or on a model in Milan fashion week but it can also be in your wardrobe...I'm seriously tired of those people that believe in the idea that fashion is all about drinking champagne with strawberries and taking nice pictures with those leggings and black pumps... or those people that feel "fashionable" because they are wearing the latest Chanel shades... I rather be unique with retail stores than a walking advertisement....
One thing is crystal clear in my mind and that is to not let society tell me what is art and what is crap...

This might sound cheesy but one thing my parents always tell me and that is to always follow my intuition...
My personal intuition is that fashion is in my closet and that is my piece of art.

I was so happy to see the sun this weekend...after almost 4 months of being in the darkness it feels great to have some sun burning your face...As most of you know I shop almost every weekend and unfortunately this weekend my weakness took over me and I went shopping downtown... and bought two pair of pants!!! they are absolutely gorgeous and comfortable...

This is one of the pair of pants that I bought in a light pink tone and I just love it!!! they are super fit and perfect for the summer!!! Light colored pants are very trendy for this season and you can find them in so many colors!!! I seriously went nuts in zara... anyways I hope you keep enjoying the sun for the rest of the week :)

Look of the day: Lady in White

(this picture was taken in another location lol )

So this past weekend I decided to be a bit braver and take some pictures outside... since it's "not cold" anymore... if we discard the fact that I was by the lake and without a coat... hmm... maybe it wasn't that warm... Anyways for this look I finally wore my furry white vest which had been hanging in my closet for quite a while now... but I finally put it to use...

For this outfit I just wanted to be a bit more chic for the winter season and wear heels because apparently I rarely wear them according to my dearest sister... :)

Have a great Sunday :)

Life: Time

I don't know if it's because I'm "growing" and kind of starting my future plans and leaving behind my "young" habits and then again I'm still young but lately I feel like I really need to get my mind set in my future goals so my social life right now is nearby being dead...but anyhow I feel like time is passing by very quickly and I wish I could grasp time and freeze it for a second...

Aside from my life transition...I feel like people are not realizing that time is passing by so fast and are not really doing much to stop it...I know it's physically impossible to stop time but it worries me to see how little kids are playing with Iphones and not really interacting with the world... and to see people worried about their social status instead of taking care of their own families... companies that rather make more money instead of looking out for their employees mental well being...

Sometimes I just wonder will people ever change... Will people ever stop worrying about what others expect from them and start to be a little bit more happy and care about those that truly care about them?

Time is passing by so fast and I know I'm not perfect to be pointing out at people but I just hope people could wake up...

A lot of people that are my "friends" on facebook believe that I'm this "fashion"girl and most people believe that I'm this uptight and anti social girl that is stress free and just cares about the upcoming trends... but that is absolutely not the way my life is... and I'm a point that I don't care what others think of me... and I think maybe the world would be better place if people would genuinely care about their happiness and care about those that are truly there for them...  Just don't worry about others... because time is ticking....

Look of the day: Lazy Night

So last night I went out with my wife to buritoville... We are not married but we like to call each other wife and wife :)... anyways she is vegan and so most of the times we see each other we go out to vegan restaurants... and this time she brought me to Burritoville... at first I thought it was a "cheesy" name... and then again saying "cheesy" for burrito place is redundant... anyhow I actually really liked it... I liked the whole ambiance and it's a very chill place to hang out on Friday evening...

I was in such a rush and didn't feel like wearing my boots so I wore one my Nike sneakers :) I'm not a huge sneaker fan but sometimes I really like to wear them... I also wore one of my granny sweaters... I call them granny because they are knits and over sized :) It was a perfect lazy Friday...

Enjoy the weekend!!!!!

Buen fin de semana!!!!

Music: lana del rey...

Elizabeth Grant mostly known as Lana Del Rey has become a sensation not only in North America but also in Europe... her distinctive melodrama vocals have been heard about everywhere and anywhere... and as reknown Swedish indie artist Lykke Li... Her vocals have been used in several techno sets...

This 25 year old girl has really stepped up in the music industry and is now setting up herself as one of the most influential indie/alternative artist... and as previously mentioned her vocals are not so similar to Lykke Li's but her character and the way she portrays herself resembles a lot the renown Swedish singer...

Although they each have their own style I do find that Lana Del Rey shares some strong similarities with Lykke Li..
In my personal opinion her voice is very beautiful but her lyrics are very sad and a bit depressing and not extremely innovative...and I just wonder is she just a sensation because she is still "underground" and not very mainstream radio ? or does she have a true talent and will be able to adapt and be versatile without losing her own style? Or has she just become very popular because of her spanish name?

I might think too much but I think it's better to put everything in perspective instead of just following the crowd and not really paying attention to what your listening to...

McQ?or McD?

I've always been an ultimate admirer of haute couture and even though I'm far from having a decent income for me to afford those garments or even better to sit in the front row of a fashion show in Paris... I truly enjoy seeing the art of fashion...

Fashion designers have never been the best at investing and managing their finances and because of such they end up being bought by another brand or by corporations that are mass production oriented... in some other cases in order to stay afloat they invest a lot of their money in fashion shows to market mainly their accessories... believe it or not designers make very little money from the outfits presented in their collection...
and some of them have major money problems... Due to all of these problems a lot of them create a "pret à porter" line which is a lower end line of their brand... for instance Dolce Gabbana with DG or Roberto Cavalli with Just Cavalli... and most of their lower end lines are oriented towards "young people"....

In this case I would like to elaborate just a little bit more in Alexander's McQueen lower end collection called McQ...

Personally I find it's almost impossible to channel out a McQueen collection into a lower end pret a porter...
But
the McQueen fashion house is tremendously inspiring and artistic...that very few people will walk around the streets looking like one of their models... and maybe in this case it's a bit more understandable to create a more "normal" fashion but then again I wonder if we are truly supporting our high fashion designers by purchasing their lower end collections or are we just buying into made in china high end labels?

I just wonder if I do buy a lower end line will I be truly buying a McQ design or a generic pair of shoes made
by a manufacturer in Humen? Lower end labels have become like McD's we get very little information and when we do get information we are not 120% sure if the information is legit or false?..or do we really want to know more... and just live in the idea that we are buying a real McQ as real beef from McD's.

Jil Sander? or Dior?

The past week German fashion house Jil Sander presented their fall/winter 2012 collection in London. This fashion house guided by a good amount of in house designers but mainly Belgian designer Raf Simons.

Unfortunately, the fashion house has announced the departure of Raf Simons which has already started his own menswear collection called Raf by Raf Simons but rumor has it that he might become Dior's official head designer...

This designer known for his minimalist designs and simple clean lines will be challenged by the elegant and luxurious line of Dior... but after all Dior has been struggling for the past year after galliano's  scandalous departure... so how worse can it?
Fortunately Raf Simons was called by Dior house in the past season for their summer collection and he handled very well the branding of their line and in my opinion he will be able to fulfill quite well this position.
The question remaining is what will happen with the fashion Jil Sander?
Will people still love their collections even without Raf's direction....

Top Five Spring Looks

Chanel 2012

Louis vuitton 2012

Blogger Chiara ferragni

Balmain 2012

DG 2012

so here are my top five looks for the summer. As you can see they all have their own character and yes these looks are all from high fashion designers but that doesn't mean that you have to buy these exact items... you simply have to find a pair of pants... a shirt... a skirt or just an accessory with one of these accents...

The first look is very light but sexy... see through fabrics such as a soft chiffon will do the trick...and it works well with the summery weather.

The second look is very girlie... looking more into the pastels and minty colors... this style goes well with the
ton sur ton style (which is all of the same color)
The third look is a bit more avant garde and playful... you don't need to wear an entire neon dress like Chiara but just a neon bag or a pair of flats will make your outfit literally pop....

The fourth look is very rocky and more metallic towmboy ish....but still remaining chic... a good black leather jackets with studs and a pair of gold shorts will work very well...

the fifth look is very summery and is perfect for those sunny days on the beach... just very flow and floral :)

Have a great week boys and girls :)

Accessories: Bling Bling

So This past month I purchased a couple of lovely things for moi :)
My mom keeps telling me that I already have a ton of accessories but I'm very silly and I always tell myself
"What if ONE day I wear this or that... with this accessory..." As you can see I'm a very safe girl and take serious actions when it comes to accessories :)... What can I say... I guess my biggest crime is to love beautiful things...

This past weekend I went to a Antique exhibition and bought a few vintage items...
and the necklace in the last picture is just stunning.. it's from Mango and it's an actual purse...
