SMM 23: Fashion Week Montreal Day 1
Last night started my first day at Fashion week in Montreal and my first show was Melissa Nepton.
This collection is very linear with clean lines in basic light colors. A fresh collection with transparency and some discrete stripes. I must say it's a simple collection but yet under those layers of silk and chiffon it uncovers the beautiful lines and silhouette of a woman's body.
The next show was a Anastasia Lomonova. This young designer has been striking the runways with her fashion forward and extravagant designs. Unveiling the woman's beauty with fringes combined with transparency and volume; it was ultimately the "show" of the night. Well elaborated dresses with curtains of gold jewelery details. I felt as if I was watching Greek goddesses steeping out on the runway. I was truly impressed and happy to see something very different and unconventional.
(I love seeing kids on the first row on runways! If I'm not mistaken she is the designers' youngest daughter, correct me if I'm wrong)
Martin Lim finalized very well the first day at Fashion week with an elegant yet youthful collection. Up until now I had never seen patterns on their work and I was truly happy to see some floral prints on this upcoming spring collection. One of the things that I love about these designers is that all of their clothes appear to be seamless and they look as if it was all cut out from one fabric. I love the simplicity and bold colors that truly mark the movement of a woman's body. I must say it was my favorite collection of the night!
I love that their collection looks wearable. functionable and fresh!
They truly gave silk a new meaning.
