10 Things that happened in my life in 2017

I feel like I always start my posts with the same old " its been a while since I've posted something" but it's the truth! I haven't been consisting with my articles, and I hope this year will be a turning point with my blog... let's hope for the best!

I'm sure you've seen many people post online or upload videos on YouTube about the biggest trends, gossips or hits, and misses of the year. Well I'll be a bit more narcissistic than the rest, and share with you 10 things that happened to me in 2017!

Now some of the things I've listed may not seem life changing events but they've all brought me good, and even bad memories...but they've all been part of my 2017 year!

To all of my readers, I hope 2018 is filled with new experiences, lots of joy, and many blessings!

1. Visiting New York since moving back to Montreal

After living in New York for 2 years, and moving back to Montreal last year. August of this year was my first time going back to New York. Visiting the city as a tourist definitely felt weird but it was refreshing to just walk around without the stress of rushing to class. It felt good to spend some time with friends, and catch up with their hectic lives in the Big Apple.

2.  Traveled to China

I never thought that less than a year after graduating from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) that I would be travelling to China for work. I think that is the coolest event of my year, now my first trip to China was completely bananas. I'm not kidding, I literally felt like crap because of jetlag, anxiety, and the flu! That was a shit show cocktail but my second trip went pretty smoothly, and it opened my eyes to a new culture. I feel very blessed to have the chance to travel to China.

3. 10 years since Prom!

It's so crazy to think that it's been 10 years since I graduated from high school. 10 years!!! It really makes me feel old but all together it has made me reflect on all the things that I've accomplished in the last 10 years, and that is even crazier! I'm a bit bummed that my grad year didn't organize a reunion but oh well!

4. Designer Swag

Now this may sound shallow for some people but for those like me who appreciate fashion very deeply you might understand why the purchase of some designer items are events to remember :) This year I bought my first Marc Jacobs handbag (not Marc by Marc Jacobs juts FYI), and my first pair of Gucci. I'm really happy of these purchases, and they are investment but they are durable, and bring me momentary joy hahahaa.

5. I'm Single Again!

Yes, I'm single again! After almost 4 years of being in a relationship; I'm back in the pool of singles. This was definitely the most unexpected event of my year. It hasn't been very long since the breakup, and I would have preferred that it ended on a good note but now more than ever I believe that everything happens for a reason. It hasn't been easy but I take a day at a time, and I'm immensely thankful to God for my family.

6. I learned a New Language

I don't speak Mandarin perfectly, but after a few classes I do feel confident that one day I will be able to express myself in this language.  One of my goals for this new year is to learn even more, and be able to say more things than "where is the bathroom" ;). I hope one day to say that it will be my 4th language to learn!

7. I went to see Broadway!

This wasn't my first time seeing a broadway show, but it was my first time seeing one on my own. I sat on the third row of the floor seats, and it was literally magical! I felt like a little girl watching one of my favourite's Disney movies come to life. If you have the chance to visit New York, you must see a broadway show, it's pricy but totally worth it!

8. Believing Again

This year has been filled with joy, sadness, anger, and many emotions that I never thought I could feel... Facing many fears, and challenges has made me come closer to God. I guess it's part of human nature to reflect on life in the middle of a turmoil, and seek for help... I am learning that everything happens for a reason, both good, and bad because that is part of God's plan in your life.  It's never easy to be thankful to God when things go sour but he never abandons you, and that is something that has kept me going.

9. Ultimate Vanity Finds

Some people might think I'm silly for being happy that on this year I found MY shade of nude lipstick, and have completed my ring collection (so far...) I'm happy to have found my everyday nude lipstick, it's from HUDA beauty in shade "Venus". As for my rings, I waited until this October for the buy 2 get third ring for free promo at Pandora. I'm a proud owner of 7 rings which completes my ring collection for now..

10. Meeting People

I've met a lot of new people this year, from working in Montreal to people that I've met while traveling in China, and reconnecting with people from the past. I've met a couple of new people, and I hope next year I'll be able to network more!

Must Have Boots Fall 2017

Fall has arrived, and it's time to bring out the cute boots before the winter hits...
Here are some of the boots I own, and I that I would like to have this fall. I believe every girl should have two to three pairs of one of these; it's always nice to have a good rotation of boots in fall.

A shiny or metallic is always good to have. It attracts some attention but still keeping it a bit casual for every day!

(Phillip Lim)

Combat boots are always useful; however for this fall almost every single designer has come up with a heeled version of the traditional combat boot.

(Gianvito Rossi)

Shorties are back in style, bringing back some love from the 80's. I especially love these ones this angled heel from Balenciaga.

Chelseas are always in style for the fall, but I highly recommend to invest in some designer Chelseas as they are timeless, and never go out of style year after year. I own the 1st Boots (in the image above) , they are from Acne Studios; and they will last a while! The 2nd pair of Chelseas are in my "want" list as they are also classic Chelsea style boots from Rag & Bone. Buy Chelseas in suede or smooth leather if you want them to last.

Rust bag, rust boots, rust everything!!! I would say Rust is the "it" colour for this fall, I personally love these suede boots from Rag & Bone. The textured suede leather with a smooth square toe are simply.

Sock boots are definitely, whether it's with a block heel or stiletto heels; high or low they are IN for this season. Wear them in black or colourful, and mix them with culottes or long skirts or even some pair of distressed jeans!

Thank you for reading!

Samira Buchi - Luxury in Hand

Effortless, relaxed, and timeless are few of many words that can describe Samira Buchi New York's brand. I consider myself very fortunate to personally know the mind master behind this unique label, and to call her my friend. Seeing Samira unfold the envelope of her collection, and seeing the growth of her brand has truly been phenomenal to witness.

I've always admired her clear vision, and well defined style that is clearly stamped in every single silhouette of her handbags. Samira Buchi New York's handbags are entirely handmade in the big apple, and are made with high quality leathers from Europe.

Each handbag has been made with outstanding craftsmanship, and high quality leathers that are simply luscious to touch. These handbags have been designed to adapt, and shape themselves to it's end user's lifestyle since they are unlined; which is a true beauty.

Samira Buchi New York, has a refreshing outlook on the meaning of luxurious handbags. Most people might expect exotic skins or mega embellished bags; however this brand fosters local sourcing, and handmade expertise which speaks louder than other over the top designers.

I'm speachless with her first collection named "nativ", and I cannot wait to see more designs.

Please see some of my favourite handbags below, and to shop her collection please visit her site right below.

Footwear Summer Trends 2017

Summer is finally here after long months of rain and bad weather, it seems like it's slowly coming. Here are some footwear trends that will be hitting up the streets this summer.

 Tech Geek Sandals

Although they are not my favourite, they are definitely trending. Pair them with culottes or knee length dresses, these sandals will breeze your feet.

 90's Open back Sneaker

The 90's fashion is back, and it's weird to see some of my childhood trends come back full force. These sneakers bring me back to my elementary days, and you will be looking cool if wear them this summer.

 Old Skool Vans

I've been truly loving vans, and I'm so happy they came up with thick sole Old Skool. These sneakers work well with denim, shorts, and pretty much anything!

Flat Leather Mule

These flat mules are a must not only for this summer but for seasons to come, they are simple, and timeless.

Pool Slides

These Fenty by Puma, combine both trends of jelly (transparency) and pool slide. These sandals are a must if you're into this style, personally these sandals will make your feet sweat, and will possibly get really hot under the sun.

Mid Heel Mule

Every single designer has brought at least one style of mules for this summer, I recommend to invest in a pair of leather suede mules because they are smooth, and pliable.

Lancome Idole Ultra 24 Foundation Review

It's been a while since I've published anything makeup related, but I was very fortunate to review Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation collection. Lancome is celebrating 20 years of Teint Idole Ultra, and to commemorate this anniversary they're expanding their shade selection, and revamped the name to Teint Idole Ultra Wear! Let's also not forget that this past year they launched both a stick foundation, as well as a cushioned foundation both reflecting their original formula of Teint Idole Ultra 24 hr.

Teint Idole Ultra Longwear Stick Foundation with SPF

This was honestly my first time trying out a stick foundation, and I'm truly amazed by the coverage that it gives. It does give a longwear coverage, however personally I prefer this foundation for contouring! I have a shade that's slightly dark for me so it perfectly for those creases, and cheek bones.

Teint Idole Ultra Wear Liquid Foundation

If you've read other articles on this blog about my makeup addiction, you probably know that Dior has been my staple foundation for many years, and it's hard for me to find another foundation that is better.  I will say that I'm truly impressed by the quality, and coverage of this foundation. The application is smooth, and it doesn't feel caky on the face. It's easily blends, and it has an extensive shade selection. The price range is pretty high but it's still affordable compared to luxury designer brands, I would really recommend this foundation is you have normal to oily skin.

Teint Idole Ultra Wear Cushion Foundation SPF 50

The rave on cushion foundation continues, and from lower end to high end brands everyone is trying them! Before trying on this one, I had only tried one from the drugstore. I was a bit skeptical at first with all of these cushion foundations because I love a good applicator, and with these you're more prone to using the sponge that comes with the compact. This cushion foundation has really long wear, and I would even say that it's almost waterproof. I wasn't able to try this on my face because the shade I received was a bit too light but I tried it on my arm, and it was really difficult to remove. I would really recommend this foundation if you're on the go a lot, and travelling. This cushion foundation is compact, and can be refilled which makes this product planet friendly. I'm very impressed with the consistency, I wish I could give a review if it stays matte or dewy but I can't really give my word on that since I didn't apply it on my face.

Overall, these foundations are all great, and they are all suitable for different types of skins, tones, and lifestyles. I hope this was helpful, and that you will get the chance to try them!
