10 Things that happened in my life in 2017
I feel like I always start my posts with the same old " its been a while since I've posted something" but it's the truth! I haven't been consisting with my articles, and I hope this year will be a turning point with my blog... let's hope for the best!
I'm sure you've seen many people post online or upload videos on YouTube about the biggest trends, gossips or hits, and misses of the year. Well I'll be a bit more narcissistic than the rest, and share with you 10 things that happened to me in 2017!
Now some of the things I've listed may not seem life changing events but they've all brought me good, and even bad memories...but they've all been part of my 2017 year!
To all of my readers, I hope 2018 is filled with new experiences, lots of joy, and many blessings!
1. Visiting New York since moving back to Montreal
After living in New York for 2 years, and moving back to Montreal last year. August of this year was my first time going back to New York. Visiting the city as a tourist definitely felt weird but it was refreshing to just walk around without the stress of rushing to class. It felt good to spend some time with friends, and catch up with their hectic lives in the Big Apple.
2. Traveled to China
I never thought that less than a year after graduating from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) that I would be travelling to China for work. I think that is the coolest event of my year, now my first trip to China was completely bananas. I'm not kidding, I literally felt like crap because of jetlag, anxiety, and the flu! That was a shit show cocktail but my second trip went pretty smoothly, and it opened my eyes to a new culture. I feel very blessed to have the chance to travel to China.
3. 10 years since Prom!
It's so crazy to think that it's been 10 years since I graduated from high school. 10 years!!! It really makes me feel old but all together it has made me reflect on all the things that I've accomplished in the last 10 years, and that is even crazier! I'm a bit bummed that my grad year didn't organize a reunion but oh well!
4. Designer Swag
Now this may sound shallow for some people but for those like me who appreciate fashion very deeply you might understand why the purchase of some designer items are events to remember :) This year I bought my first Marc Jacobs handbag (not Marc by Marc Jacobs juts FYI), and my first pair of Gucci. I'm really happy of these purchases, and they are investment but they are durable, and bring me momentary joy hahahaa.
5. I'm Single Again!
Yes, I'm single again! After almost 4 years of being in a relationship; I'm back in the pool of singles. This was definitely the most unexpected event of my year. It hasn't been very long since the breakup, and I would have preferred that it ended on a good note but now more than ever I believe that everything happens for a reason. It hasn't been easy but I take a day at a time, and I'm immensely thankful to God for my family.
6. I learned a New Language
I don't speak Mandarin perfectly, but after a few classes I do feel confident that one day I will be able to express myself in this language. One of my goals for this new year is to learn even more, and be able to say more things than "where is the bathroom" ;). I hope one day to say that it will be my 4th language to learn!
7. I went to see Broadway!
This wasn't my first time seeing a broadway show, but it was my first time seeing one on my own. I sat on the third row of the floor seats, and it was literally magical! I felt like a little girl watching one of my favourite's Disney movies come to life. If you have the chance to visit New York, you must see a broadway show, it's pricy but totally worth it!
8. Believing Again
This year has been filled with joy, sadness, anger, and many emotions that I never thought I could feel... Facing many fears, and challenges has made me come closer to God. I guess it's part of human nature to reflect on life in the middle of a turmoil, and seek for help... I am learning that everything happens for a reason, both good, and bad because that is part of God's plan in your life. It's never easy to be thankful to God when things go sour but he never abandons you, and that is something that has kept me going.
9. Ultimate Vanity Finds
Some people might think I'm silly for being happy that on this year I found MY shade of nude lipstick, and have completed my ring collection (so far...) I'm happy to have found my everyday nude lipstick, it's from HUDA beauty in shade "Venus". As for my rings, I waited until this October for the buy 2 get third ring for free promo at Pandora. I'm a proud owner of 7 rings which completes my ring collection for now..
10. Meeting People
I've met a lot of new people this year, from working in Montreal to people that I've met while traveling in China, and reconnecting with people from the past. I've met a couple of new people, and I hope next year I'll be able to network more!
